Georgetown ministry center:
The Spirit of Georgetown
The core purpose of this project was to refresh the annual gala graphics for the Georgetown Ministry Center, an organization supporting the homeless community in Washington, D.C. The primary goal was two-fold: to create a sophisticated atmosphere that would attract sizable donations from affluent guests while honoring the community focus of the organization. This project was necessitated by the client's reliance on degraded, highly compressed raster files. My solution involved a complete asset recreation, utilizing vector graphics for crisp, scalable outputs across multiple media types. The visual concept featured a custom-illustrated Georgetown skyline set against a deep midnight gradient sky and subtle twinkling stars, establishing the required sense of formality and professional polish.
To ensure the design met professional standards for both aesthetics and readability, I employed specific best practices. High contrast was a key focus, using bright white typography and the skyline illustration against the dark gradient to ensure optimal scannability and WCAG-compliant legibility. This was reinforced by a deliberate typographical hierarchy used to clearly organize event information. Furthermore, I included a detailed style tile in the final package to establish brand governance and consistency for future internal designers. The client was highly satisfied, requiring only minor alignment adjustments in a quick, single round of iteration.
